Welcome! My name is Kathy Ludwig and I am honored to be the principal of Sunset Primary School. Sunset Primary is an exceptional grades K - 5 school nestled in the wonderful neighborhood community of West Linn, Oregon.

Our students are bright and eager learners. They strive to work hard in academically rigorous classrooms as well as practice respect, responsibility, integrity, honesty and compassion with one another. While our students are alike in many ways, they also represent a diverse population. We have children who speak English as well as Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Chinese Mandarin, Vietnamese, Romanian and Hindi. Our students come from families who are willing to do whatever it takes to help all of the children at Sunset succeed. We have an incredible support system of parent volunteers. Each day you will see parents helping in classrooms, office area, playground and our outdoor gardens. I am continually impressed by the involvement of our community members.

Our staff is exceptional. They are intelligent, caring, fun people who are committed to doing their best. They are a collegial and reflective group of educators who are always striving to learn more and do a great job. Our school and district know the importance of having highly qualified teachers in each classroom. Our school continues to meet and exceed the standards and AYP goals set by the No Child Left Behind Act and the State of Oregon. We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and the intentional instruction of our teachers and support staff who make sure all of our children achieve academic progress each year.

We have an active PTSO and Site Council at Sunset. Our PTSO works hard to help children and teachers in our school be successful. They are a vital part of the educational program and community involvement here at Sunset. Our Site Council helps us write and monitor our School Development Plan. This group of teachers, parents and administrators share the role of identifying, putting into place, and evaluating the academic goals, character education goals and integration of research inquiry and technology in our classrooms.

Sunset Primary School and the West Linn-Wilsonville School District are committed to the enactment of the shared Vision Themes and Character Traits that we believe help all children be successful in life.
