Dear Families,
It is with excitement and appreciation that I write this first letter to Lowrie families! It is hard to imagine that the dream of Lowrie Primary School filled with the laughter, joy and curiosity of children is closer and closer to becoming a reality. I am honored to be the first principal of Lowrie and am eager for students, staff and parents to come together and begin creating the story of what will be an exceptional primary school. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and your children!
Before I was the principal at Stafford Primary, I was the assistant principal at Wood Middle School and the Instructional Coordinator at Boeckman Creek Primary. I am thrilled to be coming back to Wilsonville and look forward to once again becoming part of the community.
One of many things that excites me about the opening of Lowrie is that fact that as a new group of students, staff and parents, we get the rare opportunity to come together and build a new school community. We will come together to tell a story of a learning community for children that fosters their greatest thinking and deepest thoughtfulness for the school, the Wilsonville community and for the world. It will be an incredible and exciting journey for all!
While Lowrie is the start of a new school community, we are actually picking up the thread of a story that started long ago. Over the course of this year, as I have been able to walk through Lowrie every couple of weeks, the words cultivation and community have always seemed close at hand. I have been thinking a lot about how Wilsonville has long cultivated a deep and powerful sense of community and learning. I have also been thinking about the Lowrie family, who has given so much to the community over the years. This has all caused me to think about the fact that this new school has literally grown out of the field on which it is being built and the long history of the food it has provided the local community over time. This field now holds a school in which the seeds of learning will be cultivated in the hearts and minds of Lowrie students for many years to come. Children will come to Lowrie filled with the curiosities of childhood and will leave us with a deepened sense of who they are as learners, thinkers and members of the community. I am looking forward to forging the partnerships of families, teachers and the community that will form the foundation of this journey. We will all be able to look back and tell the story of being part of the foundation of what is already a wonderful school community. I am excited to meet each of you and to begin this incredible journey together!
Our first opportunity to come together as a community will be on May 2nd at Wood Middle School. The meeting will begin at 7:00pm. (I am working on child care for this event and will get more information out soon on this detail.) This will be an opportunity for us to meet and begin creating our story. I will take some time that evening to talk about the design of the school, share pictures of the building and to share growing vision for the school. There will also be an opportunity to begin the process of forming a PTA and to begin to gather feedback from parents regarding their hopes and dreams for school events and growing Lowrie traditions. I am appreciative of the initial conversations with Katie Green, Marta McGuire, Kristen Keswick and Dianne Knight and their work with the Oregon PTA on the steps we need to take to formalize a new PTA. It should be a fun and informative evening and I hope you will be able to come!
It is our collective deeply held belief in children, the power of their curiosities, the strength of their voices and their care for the world that will be the foundation of our exceptional school community.

Es con emoción y aprecio que escribo esta primera carta a las familias de ¡Lowrie! Es difícil imaginar que el sueño de la Escuela Primaria Lowrie llena con la risa, alegría y curiosidad de los niños esta más cerca de llegar a ser una realidad. Estoy honrado de ser el primer director de Lowrie y estoy ávido de que los estudiantes, personal y padres se unan y comiencen a crear la historia de lo que será una escuela primaria excepcional. ¡Estoy esperando con ansias el conocerles a todos y a sus familias!
Antes de que fuera el director en la Primaria Stafford, fui el director asistente en la Escuela Secundaria Wood y el Coordinador de Instrucción en la Primaria Boeckman Creek. Estoy emocionado de regresar a Wilsonville y estoy anticipando una vez mas ser parte de la comunidad.
Una de las cosas que más me emocionan acerca de la apertura de Lowrie, es el hecho de que como un nuevo grupo de estudiantes, personal y padres, tenemos la rara oportunidad de reunirnos y construir una nueva comunidad escolar. Nos reuniremos para contar la historia de una comunidad de aprendizaje para los niños, que nutre sus más grandes pensamientos y profundas reflexiones para la escuela, la comunidad de Wilsonville y para el mundo. ¡Sera un viaje increíble y emocionante para todos!
Mientras que Lowrie es el comienzo de una nueva comunidad escolar, estamos actualmente recogiendo el hilo de una historia que comenzó hace tiempo. Nuestra primera oportunidad para venir juntos como una comunidad será el 2 de mayo en la Escuela Secundaria Wood. La reunión comenzara a las 7:00 p.m. (Estoy trabajando en el cuidado de niños para este evento y obtendré más información pronto acerca de este detalle). Esta será una oportunidad para reunirnos y comenzar a crear una historia. Tomare algún tiempo esa tarde para hablar acerca del diseño de la escuela, compartir fotos del edificio y compartir una visión de crecimiento para esta. Habrá también la oportunidad de comenzar el proceso de formación de PTA y comenzar a obtener retroalimentación de padres referente a las esperanza y sueños para eventos escolares y tradiciones de Lowrie. Aprecio todas las conversaciones iniciales con Katie Green, Marta McGuire, Kristen Keswick y Diane Knight y su trabajo con el “Oregon PTA” en los pasos que necesitamos tomar para formalizar un nuevo PTA. Es nuestra creencia colectiva profunda en los niños, el poder de su curiosidad, la fuerza de sus voces y su preocupación por el mundo, que será el fundamento de nuestra excepcional comunidad escolar.
