2026-27 Transfer Priority Process
Tiered Priority Process for New In-District Transfer Requests (for 2026-2027)
Due to an anticipated higher volume of in-district transfer requests for next school year, the following tiered priority process will be applied for primary students for 2026-2027:
- All current students staying in the Chinese Dual Language Program for the 2026-2027 school year will be given automatic placement at Willamette Primary School where the program will be located.
- Siblings of these students who are not in the program but who wish to stay together as a family unit, will be given priority to attend Willamette over new transfer requests. This priority procedure will begin with Grade 5, then Grade 4, and so on based on space available at the requested grade level.
- Siblings of these students who are not in the program but who wish to stay together as a family unit, will be given priority to attend Willamette over new transfer requests. This priority procedure will begin with Grade 5, then Grade 4, and so on based on space available at the requested grade level.
- Stafford and Bolton resident students assigned to their new school (boundary) but wish to transfer to a different school in the district beginning in the 2026-2027 school year will be given priority over other new transfer requests. This priority procedure will begin with Grade 5, then Grade 4, and so on based on space available at the requested grade level.
- Boeckman Creek students who are assigned to Frog Pond Primary but wish to stay at Boeckman Creek for the 2026-2027 school year will be given priority over other new transfer requests. This priority procedure will begin with Grade 5, then Grade 4, and so on based on space available at the requested grade level.
- New in-district transfer requests for siblings of current transfer students will be approved after the above placements are made and using the grade level priority: Grade 5, then Grade 4, and so on based on space available at the requested grade level. For example, a student who lives in the Sunset boundary and is attending Willamette Primary through an in-district transfer, and their incoming kindergarten sibling would also like to complete an in-district transfer application to attend Willamette.
- Lastly, new in-district transfer requests beyond those mentioned above will be approved using the grade level priority: Grade 5, then Grade 4, and so on based on space availability at the requested grade level.
What about requests that come in after February 27?
In-district applications that are received after February 27 will be date/time-stamped and reviewed after March 6. Applications will be approved depending on remaining space availability and staffing at each grade level of the requested school. Applications for middle and high schools will be reviewed upon receipt using the district’s typical application review process.
What about INTER-District Transfers (students who live outside of the District)?
This process is for primary school students only. Middle and High School students are not impacted by Primary School Boundary changes.
-
CURRENT: Any PRIMARY SCHOOL student currently (2025-2026) attending a WLWV primary school through the inter-district transfer process is granted permission to stay at their attending school (through Grade 5). For example, a student who lives in Sherwood but is attending Cedaroak Park this year, will continue at Cedaroak Park next year.
- CURRENT: Any PRIMARY SCHOOL student currently (2025-2026) attending Bolton or Stafford through an inter-district transfer process will need to complete an in-district application request for another primary school. These requests will be considered during step #4 of the tiered priority process after all resident students are placed.
- NEW: New inter-district transfer requests for the 2026-2027 school year will only be approved once all tiered approvals for February requests have been completed and there is confidence about grade level space availability at the requested school. Unlike other years, these requests may be on hold for longer than typical. Some inter-district transfer requests could be denied if grade level space availability is a factor.
School Tour Opportunities
As we move forward with our newly updated primary school boundaries, we are excited to offer school tours at all of our primary schools in West Linn and Wilsonville during the month of February.
These tours are designed to give families an opportunity to get a first look at schools across the district. Whether you are newly assigned to a school or considering an in-district transfer, this is a chance to see learning spaces, meet some staff members, and experience the welcoming environments that make each of our schools special.
Tours will include 5-7 stops, which could include class rooms, shared learning spaces, school libraries, front office, gymnasium, and playground. Tours will start at 3:30 pm and end at 4:30 pm for each school.
We are working to complete all tours by February 26, as February 27 is the first deadline for in-district transfer requests.
Below are the confirmed schools and tour dates:
- Frog Pond - February 12
- Cedaroak Park - February 17
- Lowrie - February 18
- Sunset - February 23
- Willamette - February 24
- Trillium - February 25
- Boeckman Creek - February 25
- Boones Ferry - February 26
We hope these tours help families feel informed as they plan for the 2026-2027 school year. Each of our primary schools offer strong instruction, caring staff, and supportive learning communities, and we are proud of the environments our students experience every day.
Thank you for your partnership as we move through this transition together. We look forward to welcoming you into our schools this February.
