  • WEIGHT TRAINING I (7130)

    One semester:  0.5 credit

    Grade:  9, 10, 11, 12

    Grad Require: P.E. Selective

    Prerequisite: None

    Students in this course will use weight training to develop muscular strength, muscular fitness and total body symmetry. Students will learn important safety practices for training, sports nutrition and basic sports medicine.  Activities will include personal assessment, individual training, individual testing, and a record keeping folder. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to design personal strength programs and will have improved their strength and fitness.  This course may be taken as an Early Period class.

    Prerequisite: Weight Training I

    Athletic Performance is an advanced weight training course designed for the serious lifter.  Focus is the application of strength training, combining free weights and machines to master Olympic lifts.  Anatomy and physiology associated with weight training and safe lifting procedures along with the execution of an advanced team lifting program.
