Course Description
Chemistry is a study of the composition of matter and changes it undergoes utilizing scientific concepts and mathematics. Some of the concepts emphasized in this course are atomic theory, atomic structure, periodicity, radioactivity, chemical bonding, principles of chemical reactions, kinetic theory, energy, solubility, equilibrium, and acid-base properties. Activities include lectures, class discussions, problem-solving sessions, demonstrations, lab experiments, and projects. Assessment is based on exams, lab reports, homework, activities, and projects.
You will learn the most in this class if you bring and use your journal (both during AND after class), become familiar with the names and symbols on the period table (I recommend using an elements app to quiz yourself), and most importantly if you ask lots of questions (done either during or outside of class).
