• Bonjour et bienvenue!
    Welcome to WLHS French!
My name is Heather Carney and this is my 5th year at WLHS. This year, I'll be teaching two sections of French 1, one section of French 2,  and two sections of French 3. I'm looking forward to another great school year with my fellow WLHS Lions!
I grew up on the East Coast and graduated with a B.A. in French at The University of Georgia. After spending a few years working and traveling overseas and in Alaska, I settled in Portland and began my teaching career. Since then, I've earned a B.S. Ed. in Secondary Education and French, as well as an M. Ed. in TESOL. I've spent the last few summers participating in another graduate studies program in Angers, France (photo above) because I just love teaching and learning about the French language, Francophone cultures from around the world, and language acquisition! Outside of school, you can usually find hanging around with my husband, my dog (Winnie), and my cat (Ollie).
If you'd like to join Google Classroom, here are the codes for each class period:
    Period 1/French 1: 4mmnt2g
    Period 2/French 3 4zcpmq4
    Period 3/French 3: 4u6ntyr
    Period 4/French 1: 72tckps

The best way to contact me is via email; I do my best to respond as quickly as possible. I do check my voicemail at school, but not as frequently. If you'd like to leave a voicemail, please call the school at (503) 673-7800 and either use the dial-by-name directory or my extension (6871).
