• Bonjour et Bienvenue!
    Eiffel Tower
    Welcome to WLHS French!
My name is Heather Carney and this will be my third year of teaching French at WLHS. This year, I'll be teaching two sections of French 1 and three sections of French 3. I'm looking forward to another great school year with my fellow WLHS Lions!
I grew up in Rhode Island and then earned my B.A. in French at The University of Georgia. After spending a few years working and traveling in London, England, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, and Alaska, I settled in Portland and started teaching Kindergarten at The Portland French School/L'École Française de Portland. Though I loved my kids there, I decided to return east to teach while pursuing a degree in Education. In 2006, I received my B.S. Ed. in Secondary Education and French from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. As I love the study of second language acquisition, I will be completing my Masters in TESOL in 2017.
The best way to contact me is via email. I do check my voicemail at school, but not as frequently. If you'd like to leave a voicemail, please call the school at (503) 673-7800 and either use the dial-by-name directory or my extension (6871).
