About Cheryl Wilson, MSW, LCSW
I am a School Counselor and Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I prioritize my work with students, parents and staff based on our understanding of what will support positive change for our students. In this capacity I provide support to the special education team, the school behavior support team, and the academic support team in creating individualized plans that help students grow and take personal responsibility for their positive change in their identities as successful young adults. We know that many students come to Arts and Technology High School deficient in credits and a history of not believing in their individual ability to complete tasks necessary to graduate high school. My job is to help students move past social, personal, emotional and academic barriers that can block their path to personal and academic success. Throughout our work with students, we build systems to support students in knowing and believing in their personal strengths.
I have been a masters level licensed clinical social worker and school counselor for more than 15 years. My focus is to help students and their families find the resources and guidance they need to become successful. I do this by teaming with parents, outside supports, teachers and administrators to ensure that students recognize their potential and then realize that potential.
I grew up in Austin Texas, received my bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Texas, Austin, and earned my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Smith College, Northampton, Ma.. I completed a school guidance licensure program at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. I have two professional licenses in the state of Oregon: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and School Guidance Counselor.
