CREST

Over the past years, the District CREST Program has evolved with changing student learning needs, school and program schedules, and with continued budget considerations. 

CREST continues to be an integral part of West Linn-Wilsonville science program, bringing garden-based learning and hands-on science education to WLWV students. Instead of students coming to a CREST location, the program has shifted so that CREST staff go directly out to schools to engage students in hands-on science learning. 

The current CREST Center, located near Boones Ferry Primary, will no longer be used due to the aging nature of the building, making it structurally unsafe and too costly and impractical to restore. The building has been dormant in recent school years, and part of the 2025 Capital Bond includes removal of the building and storage structures on the property. 

This summer the CREST program will move to the Stafford School campus, a more centrally located area in the district, where staff will continue to support science instruction in schools and students’ research. Some outdoor science program materials and equipment from the former CREST property are being distributed to classroom teachers. CREST will also be able to host WLWV district-wide STEM learning experiences in the Stafford multi-purpose room (MPR) location, which remains available for district use and community accessibility. 

The CREST program has served countless students at the former site and will continue to serve students in its new location. Thank you to all of our community members and volunteers who have supported the program and we look forward to new possibilities in store for our students and families.
