This is an introductory survey class in which students will acquire skills in digital and analog photography in the context of a CTE course. Students will explore photographic composition and framing techniques through the use of digital (DSLR) and analog cameras and smartphones. Students will be required to take photographs during class time and outside of class. Students will complete a portfolio sharing their best work. Students will have the opportunity to use both digital editing (Adobe Bridge and Photoshop) as well as traditional printing techniques to produce their photos. We will also spend time researching historical and contemporary photographers. During the second semester, students will expand on their understanding and continue to develop proficiency in digital and analog photography through class and individual photography challenges. Cameras are available for use in class. This course is aligned with the National Core Art Standards.
