AP Computer Science A is a course that is designed for students with some experience in the world of Computer Science.  It is meant to be the equivalent of a first-semester college level course in computer science. Students will learn the basics and some advanced concepts of the Java programming language to explore how to solve simple and complex problems with computer programs. The course emphasizes problem-solving in a structured way and how to convert algorithms (steps to solving problems) into functioning programs. Students will be expected to do daily assignments both in class and at home and also to demonstrate an ability to learn independently by using computer science reference material, readings and websites to learn and reinforce the concepts covered in class. Students will work on a final project of their choosing after the AP exam in May.

Cost: AP exam fee approx. $94.00
