Introduction to Programming 1 is an introduction to Python that is designed for students with no prior computing experience. Python is an open-source programming language that is used in web programming, artificial intelligence, and many scientific applications, with an abundance of coding libraries available to easily create powerful programs. This class introduces problem-solving in a structured way, and provides an introduction to programming using the Python language, demonstrating statements, inputs, outputs, conditionals, loops, and functions, and shows how to build, test, and debug robust Python applications. Students will be expected to do daily lessons/assignments in class and also to demonstrate an ability to learn independently by using computer science reference material and online platforms. Knowledge of Python programming gives students a wide variety of career paths to choose from.
