Dear Willamette Community,
I’m also proud of the individual accomplishments of our children. Recently a kindergartner pulled me into his classroom to joyfully show me how he can now read an entire Dr. Seuss book (it was quite a long story). I also recall children energetically describing Science Fair projects and selling homemade products at our Willamette Market.
As you’ve heard me say many times, our success is a direct result of close collaboration between our school and the larger Willamette community. By participating in goal setting conferences, contributing to PTA school improvement efforts and volunteering in a thousand important ways, you team with us to create a wonderful experience for our children. Willamette parents contributed over 2,000 volunteer hours this year, and that’s only counting hours during the school day. I am very grateful to be part of this incredible community of shared values and high standards!
I wish each of you a wonderful summer. I’ll be around most of the summer, with the exception of July. Our school will experience quite a bit of construction, as we update plumbing, remodel bathrooms and replace older windows. The building may be closed at times for safety purposes, but I am available by phone and email. I’ll also send out news updates as we begin preparing for a brand new school year. Even though this year has not ended yet, we’re already scheming to set ourselves up for a fabulous 2013/14 school year. Stay tuned!
