I am looking forward to being the 'first' tennis coach at Riverside high school in the spring of 2024. My goal is to start to build a solid program and as always work with our young folks as they develop skills in sport that they can apply to life. I was the head coach at West Salem high school, in Salem for one year which ended with the Covid pandemic. I have played recreationally off and on during my years and played against my friends on our high school team. They seemed to have enjoyed my forceful hitting style. I have always been a fan of tennis from a long time back and think of it as a sport that you can play your whole life!
My other coaching background is that I have and continue to coach in high school girls basketball since 2015, along with helping on some club teams during the summers. My span has placed me at West Salem (4 seasons), Dallas (1 season, Head coach), Sunset (3 seasons, Head coach) and this current season with Sherwood high school. I also have been a teacher the previous 5 years (ELA and Social Studies), but stepped away this school year and am working as a Para educator in another district at this time.
My wife, Lisa, and I live in the Beaverton area, and our daughter, Emma, lives in the Lake Oswego area. Emma, graduated from Lewis & Clark College, did a long-term sub position at Riverside in Science, and is the current volleyball coach for Riverside!
Again, I am looking towards a wonderful spring of growth in the tennis program and getting it started for the Raptors!
