• Welcome to Riverside High School. We are excited to have you as part of the Raptor family! The academic planning guide is designed to help you focus on your goals and future plans. It will help you develop what your four-year plan may look like and enable you to pursue your future goals. A part of developing your four-year plan and selecting your courses is deciding what academic options you want to pursue. Students and parents should identify their post-high school goals, time commitments, co-curricular activities and consider these factors when selecting which academic options to pursue.

    • What are your post-high school plans, and will your choices help you reach your goals?

      • If you have identified areas of interest or possible career paths, are you taking courses to help you explore those areas or prepare for those paths?

    • Are you taking the most rigorous and challenging courses you can take?

      • For college admissions and success in college, once you are there, the most important factor is taking the most challenging courses you are capable of while in high school.

    • Are you maximizing your ability to earn college credits or career certificates?

      • Are you taking any certificate, dual credit, and or IB courses that give you the ability to earn college credits and better prepare you for success in college or your future career?

Students who pursue the Riverside diploma will meet all Oregon diploma requirements, take a challenging curriculum, including IB courses, and have the opportunity to earn college credits. Students who pursue the IB Career Program will focus on a CTE pathway and take three IB courses. This challenging program will help students prepare for college or a career. Students who pursue the IB Diploma will have the opportunity to take a rigorous, challenging, and balanced curriculum that will prepare students for admission to the most competitive universities and the opportunity to earn college credit. The IB Diploma Program consists of 7 courses, community services, and writing an extended essay in your 11th and 12th grade years.

We look forward to supporting students in meeting their goals and helping them prepare for their future endeavors. We are excited to build a tradition of success at RHS!
