About Boones Ferry

  • Boones Ferry Primary School is one of nine outstanding primary schools in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District. Built in 2001, Boones Ferry is surrounded by pristine wetlands that contribute to its beauty and lend a sense of identity to the school. Our mascot is the dragonfly, an intriguing creature common in the wetlands and one that sparks the imagination of our students.

While we serve almost 600 students at Boones Ferry, we try to do so with a sense of family and community. Our school was designed to be a place where people know each other well. Each of our two main houses, Fauna House (PreK-2) and Flora House (3-5) are comprised of four porch communities. Each porch serves as the living room for four classrooms. The porch communities in each house share a commons, music room, gym, and outside play area. This award-winning design facilitates teaming for learning within porches and across grade levels within each house. In fact, teaming with and for students is an important part of our effort to achieve our number one goal at Boones Ferry—excellence from all.

We are learning that when everyone in a school treats every other person well, we nurture the soul of our school. This creates the possibility of excellence because when people feel included, respected, and appreciated they will work hard to support their own learning AND the learning of others. This helps to create a learning community within which we can study and practice excellence. As we practice excellence we are building an ethic for excellence that is helping to shape the culture of our classrooms and school.
