Hello there! My name is McKenna Johnsen and I am thrilled to be a part of the Sunset 1st grade team this year! This is my very first year in West Linn-Wilsonville School District. Prior to coming here, I worked as a 2nd-grade teacher in Palo Alto, CA. I have a Masters in Education and a degree in Psychology from California Lutheran University. 

In my free time, I enjoy anything active. I love hiking, rock climbing, paddle boarding, and exploring new places. During breaks, you will find me traveling, going on adventures, or checking something off of my lengthy bucket list. 

My teaching philosophy is that learning should be fun, hands-on, and challenging for all students. My passion is teaching, and I want nothing more than for children to feel happy and successful at school! I encourage students to use their "bubblegum brain" to challenge their thinking and push themselves to do their best. 

Sunset Primary School is an incredible place to work and learn. I look forward to an incredible school year in 1st grade! Go Eagles!
