• You can access these by opening up “My Computer” on the desktop, or by going to “Available Drives” from the Start button.

C:/(hard drive) This is your local computer. Things saved here will only be available on that one computer. Keep this in mind for things like grades, which if your local computer crashes will be lost. Also, your computer will be updated (e.g. imaged) from time to time, and anything you save to the hard drive will be erased. So, if you load your own programs here, you need to be sure to have the installation disk handy to reinstall from time to time.

H:/(home drive) This is a drive available only to you that is accessible from any computer in the school district. This is a great place to store grades, all your word docs, and mostly everything you would want to access from anywhere. Items on the h: drive will never be deleted unless YOU delete them.

G:/ (web drive) This is the drive where you keep any files that you want people to be able access from the internet. Anything that is on the g: drive is accessible to ANYONE from the internet.

I:/(teacher common drive) Things stored here are available to any staff member in the school anytime. This is a good place to save items to be used by a grade level team, a subject alike team, the entire staff, etc. Items here get cleaned out after they are 3 years old. You can (and should) keep back-ups on your own h: drive.

K:/ (student common drive) Just like the i: drive, but for students. Any student or staff member can store and delete items here. Great for projects, group work, etc. Students will see a folder for each class that they have. Only students that are in those classes will have access to those folders.

L:/ (district common drive) Things stored here are available to any staff member in the entire district anytime. This is a good place to save items to be used by subject or grade level teachers from other schools in the district. Items here get cleaned out after they are 3 years old. You can (and should) keep back-ups on your own h: drive.

Q:/ (web common drive) This is the drive where you keep web pages that a variety of staff need to access. This is a place where teams and subjects alike can place pages and documents that the whole group can link to.

S:/ (student home drives) Staff members have access to the home drive of all the students here. This is a good way for you to open up or print a student document without them having to email it to you or give you a hardcopy.
