• The District has been working with the middle school science teachers to engage in a hybrid studio/ lesson study model of professional development. Teachers have worked together to better understand the Next Generation Science Standards, connections to the Common Core State Standards, and best instructional practices in science through the context of curriculum development. Grade level teams have worked over the course of four sessions to develop meaningful lessons and unit plans that are standards based and engage students in engineering design and thinking. The District is working to better understand how this model might be useful for other grade levels and within other STEM disciplines.
