The West Linn-Wilsonville’s learning communities of great thinkers will use science, technology, and mathematics to engineer solutions to problems for the world. STEM education supports the learning and development of essential and foundational skills and knowledge to support these learning communities of great thinkers and thoughtful global citizens.
The District supports STEM experiences throughout the grade levels to provide diverse learning experiences for students with STEM disciplines. In addition, the District is actively fostering new and supporting existing partnerships to enhance STEM learning for students. These partnerships include working with Oregon Tech and their High School Transition courses in engineering and health sciences, the South Metro Salem STEM partnership of industry partners and surrounding school districts looking to advance STEM education in the region, and other partnerships with local industry partners, such as Mentor Graphics, Xerox, and Flir through District Robotics teams. CREST supports these STEM experiences, using the context of sustainability, to connect student learning to the local environment and community.
