• Welcome to Mr. Boone's webpage for the 2022-2023 school year! This will be my 22nd year teaching in Wilsonville. I'm now starting to get students whose parents had me. Some might say that makes me old. I say it means I'm experienced! During this time, I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th graders math and social studies at Wood and Meridian Creek. This year I'll be teaching 6th grade social studies. We'll learn about the Neolithic age, Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, the Maya, and Greece.

    I've now spent over half of my life in Oregon. Before that, I lived outside of Chicago (go Cubs!). I have two children, Nora and Elliott, who are going into the 7th and 9th grades. This summer we did a lot of adulting (painted the deck and cleaned out the basement- very exciting!), but we ended it by going to northern Michigan (Frankfort) with my extended family. Throughout the year we like to watch movies, go on bike adventures, listen to music, and play board games.

    My overall teaching goal is a simple one: I want your child to learn a lot and enjoy themselves as they do so. In particular, I will push students to improve as readers, writers, and thinkers. But I do also want each class to be fun. So we'll do lots of projects that combine history with art and creative writing. And, I try to integrate a lot of contests/debates/acting activities into what we're learning.

    I used to use this site and Google Classroom for various communication purposes. But now, I only use Google Classroom. Which means this will be all that's on this site. You can always check their work from their Google Classroom account, or you can ask me to add you to their Google Classroom.
