Hello, I am Toni Snapp, School Counselor of ACMS and Welcome to the 2020-21 school year!
I have been a part of the Athey Creek community for the past nine years and district since 2002. It is with great pleasure to work and live in such a supportive, encouraging and wonderful area. I am the proud mother of twin boys who graduated from West Linn High School a few years ago and outside of school I am passionate about my dog, kayaking, landscaping & woodworking and enjoying anything and everything apart of nature.
As School Counselor, I support the work of creating learning communities of the greatest thinkers and the most thoughtful people...for the world.
The mission of the Athey Creek MS counseling department is to provide a comprehensive guidance and counseling program following the framework from the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) that is accessible to all students and responsive to the unique needs of the individual learner. We are committed to supporting the academic, career and social/emotional development of our students through advocacy and instruction in a safe and collaborative learning community that prepares students for high school success and post secondary opportunities as responsible, ethical and contributing members of society.
This work includes the following:
Academic Development: help students obtain and maintain the attitudes, knowledge and skills needed for academic success in the present and for the future.
Career & College Readiness Development: help students understand their personal skills and talents in ways that allow them to acquire skills for exploring the world of work and for making informed career decisions.
Social Emotional Learning & Development: engage students in activities to promote positive interpersonal knowledge, attitudes and skills. These assets are central to helping students make healthy decisions, set reasonable personal goals, cope with difficult and stressful situations and consider their personal safety inside and outside the school setting. Please see the side links for additional information for the above 3 domains.

If you have questions or concerns about your child needing additional resources and supports, please click on this link from our district web page Circles of Support/The Child Study Process.
The Child Study Process is designed to improve instruction for all learners and to ensure that every child knows he/she is a competent contributor to the school community and that he/she belongs. Therefore, the process begins with the child, the parent, and the classroom teacher knowing the child deeply within a strengths-based framework.
Additionally, please see the list of resources for outside supports to address your child's needs.
