*Two Half Hitches – use two half hitches to tie a rope around an object and hold a load
*Timber Hitch - to tie a rope to a piece of wood
* Sheet Bend or Square Knot (one of these) - to join two ropes
*Prusik Knot – to put a loop around a cord which can be slid up and down the cord. Great for rigging tarps.
*Bowline – to tie a fixed loop
Running Bowline or Slip Knot – to make a loop that tightens down
