Would you (or parents!) like to receive text message reminders on your cell phone about homework, projects, and upcoming quizzes and tests? You can also message me directly with class-related questions outside of school hours. To enroll yourself in our class, text the code listed below for your class to 81010. If this is your first time using Remind, the first response text will prompt you to text back your name. Please give your first and last name as you would like to be called in class. This service is in no way connected to your or my personal cell phone number.
Text the following code to 81010
- Two spiral or composition notebook: Students are required to have a notebook that will be used every day in class. Composition notebooks are preferred as the pages do not have perforated edges.
- A section dedicated to Spanish in your binder.
- High lighters
- Glue: Glue is used often in class. It is incredibly helpful if students bring their own glue to class.
- Spanish/English dictionary – I will have a few available for you in class when necessary.
- Index cards for flashcards – We will be learning a lot of new vocab so this can be very helpful.
Make-Up Work, Late Work,
Excused absences: When a student misses class due to an excused absence, the student missed will have a maximum of 2 weeks after your absence to make up missing work with no penalty. It is your responsibility to communicate with me regarding your missing assignments – not mine!
Late Work: Student may turn in missing assignments and late work for up to two days prior to the end of the appropriate marking period. Late work will be graded at 70% of the earned grade. For example, if a student forgot to complete a 10-point assignment, the student may turn in the completed assignment prior to two days before the end of the marking period but would receive a maximum of 7/10 on that assignment.
Prearranged absences: If you know in advance you are going to be gone from class, it would be a good idea to check with me beforehand and plan ahead.
Working together is absolutely encouraged and can be a very helpful way to learn. However, copying another person’s work is unethical and will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, copying materials from classmates, books, the Internet, online translators, etc. If, and when, I discover you have cheated or plagiarized, or allowed someone else to cheat off of you, you will not receive credit for the specific assignment, with no chance for retake, and I will call home to your parents/guardians.
Cheating/copying/plagiarizing someone else’s work is wrong & mutually unbeneficial so just don’t do it!!
