WLHS Class of 2020
2020 Updated Graduation Information
Hello, Class of 2020!
I know everyone has been anxiously awaiting more information about our graduation plans for the class of 2020. By now, I hope you have seen the district communication regarding our ceremony, which will take place on Tuesday, June 2nd, starting at 1:30 pm at West Linn High School. While this will not be any normal graduation, we are very excited about the plan we have come up with and hope it will be a fun and exciting tribute to our amazing senior class.
The following are some specifics that I want to share with you. Next week, you will receive an email that will allow you to sign up for a specific time slot on June 2nd to arrive and participate in the ceremony. These are a few details that I would like you to please pay close attention to:
Each graduate will arrive with family and friends during the following designated time periods:
1:00 - 2:30 p.m. 111 slots
2:30 - 4:00 p.m. 111 slots
4:30 - 6:00 p.m. 111 slots
6:30 - 8:00 p.m. 111 slots
Due to the number of graduates, it is going to be very important that you arrive during your pre-selected time. To allow families more flexibility, we will not be organizing by alpha, so please immediately pick your time slot when made available. Upon arrival to the Tripp Lot, graduates will receive a gift bag as well as any graduation regalia not already picked up.
We would request that you arrive in passenger vehicles only. Party buses, limousines, etc. can damage the track and will have a hard time getting up the steep ramp, as well as making the hard right turn. Seniors are encouraged to “LIONIZE” their cars and show their Class of 2020 spirit.
When you arrive, please enter at the Tripp Lot and check in with a staff representative who will let you know where to stage and get ready for your big moment. We ask that, while in the Tripp Lot, everyone stays in their cars in order to help us maintain proper social-distancing expectations.
When it is time for your graduate’s big moment, you will be directed to exit the Tripp Lot and enter the driveway at the Performing Arts Center. There, you will be given further directions about how to proceed to the graduation stage. (a map will be provided as we get closer to the event). We will have a DJ spinning some tunes to keep everything fun and upbeat, as well as a few other surprises to celebrate our graduates!
Once your vehicle has arrived at the graduation stage, your senior will be directed to exit their car and walk across the stage, hear their name read and receive their diploma. Family members will be able to exit vehicles and take pictures, as well as get videos of the big moment. The driver of the vehicle should however stay at the wheel.
Once your senior has received their diploma, they will have a professional photo taken and then re-enter their vehicle to take a victory lap. We want families to enjoy their very special moment, while keeping in mind that we have over 400 seniors. Your help in keeping things moving at a safe and enjoyable pace will be greatly appreciated.
We will combine all of the pictures together with pre-recorded speeches and make a 2020 graduation video for all to enjoy. The entire day will also be live-streamed for friends and family who are not able to attend.
We are looking forward to celebrating the Class of 2020 on this special day. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me personally. I am so very proud of all of our seniors and am looking forward to seeing everyone’s smiling faces (rain or shine) on June 2nd.
Stay healthy and happy, Lions!
