Welcome!

Welcome to my homepage and to the 2024-2025 school year! Most people know me as TLaf and "TWA" (totally wicked awesome) is sort of my motto for how much I enjoy teaching math.  This website contains some of the initial information that you need to get started. Everything you'll need after that will be posted in Google Classroom.

For those of you who don't know me already, here's a little about my background: This is my 18th year here at West Linn High School and my 27th year teaching math. I got my undergraduate degree from Providence College (go Friars!) and my Masters degree from the University of Rhode Island.

I grew up on the East Coast and moved here 18 years ago.  And of course, I am a loyal fan of all the New England teams: Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins (you'll be able to tell this when you see my classroom)! If there's a big game on, you can bet I'll be watching it, so feel free to come by my room (B101) and chat about it after.  

You should also know that I REALLY love doing math!  For reals.  Now, I understand that not everyone does....but, I expect you to at least try your hardest and put forth your best effort (aka do all your classwork and homework) and, of course, stay positive!  :-)

This year I am teaching Trig, AP Calc AB, Financial Algebra and Math in Society. They are all great classes and, hopefully, you will learn a lot about how important and useful math is in our society.  So....get your pencils ready and let's get this year started with success and growth in mind!!

You should be used to the routine of being back at school full time after last year, but I want to remind you to bring your laptop charged and ready to go everyday.  Please get to class ON TIME and be prepared to put your phones in the "cell phone holding area" at the start of class.  I truly want all of you to be successful and being ready to go every day is a big part of that.  Let's have a great year!!!!  

 

P.S.  I love animals, especially my two rescue dogs, so please feel free to share pictures and stories of your pets with me!  :)
