Acting 3/Directing

This course is designed for the advanced theatre student with serious intention to pursue further training in the field. Emphasis will be on dramaturgy, script analysis, and directing techniques. Students will be required to maintain a reflective journal and create a portfolio of work.  This course is combined with Acting 3. As a culminating event, Directing for the Stage students will direct Acting 3 students in classical scenes to be performed as part of a public showcase performance. This course has a co-curricular component. For one week towards the end of the semester, students are expected to rehearse after school. They will finish the week with two evening public performances. This course is also designed to prepare those interested in directing a one-act for Shorts, the theatre department’s last main production of the season.
