Technical Theatre at a Glance

  • Have you wondered what is going on behind the scenes at a live show?
If so, West Linn HS has a Technical Theatre Career Technical Education (CTE) program. The Technical Theatre CTE program falls under the umbrella of the Performing Arts department. This program involves all of the technical visual and sound elements that go on during a show. Students gain hands-on experience and technical skills in set design, sound engineering, lighting, and staging.
CTE classes meet graduation requirements and help you gain skills for various careers in the technical arts. Even if you do not end up in this exact career path, you will gain valuable skills that transfer to the path you end up choosing. Participating in a CTE program looks great on your resume and on college applications.

How to join the program: When you select your elective class(es) choose one of the introductory class(es) to see if it is a fit for you. If you like the class, then you can take the intermediate and advanced classes throughout high school. Students who complete 3 credits in the Technical Theatre CTE program receive a cord at graduation.
