The West Linn-Wilsonville School District invites interested community members to participate in upcoming information and input sessions regarding the Governor’s recent Executive Order on cell phones and student devices. The district held three information and input sessions in July and August to gather feedback. Interested community members can access the presentation that was shared and provide additional feedback through this online form.
Please find more information about the Governor's Executive Order below.
Executive Order Prohibits Student Devices Throughout Entirety of School Day
The Governor’s Executive Order requires that all “personal electronic devices” that are capable of making and receiving calls and text messages (excluding laptops) must be stored and away during the school day while students are on campus. This includes during class time, restrooms and passing between class periods. Students may access their cell phones and devices once they leave school grounds, including the school bus on the way home from school. At the high school level, students may use cell phones and devices during the lunch period if they are off school grounds.
Cell Phone Ban In Effect at Start of New School Year
West Linn-Wilsonville School District will be implementing this new regulation at the start of this 2025-2026 school year (August 26). Input from the online information sessions and guidance from the Oregon Department of Education will help inform the District’s next steps.
