Safe and secure school campuses is a top priority for the West Linn-Wilsonville School District. This means that, during school hours, all perimeter doors at schools are kept locked except for the front entrance where the school office is located. Parents and visitors are expected to stop at the front office to sign in, print, and wear a badge. District staff wear lanyards at all times to identify their role as employees. West Linn-Wilsonville works hard to balance a safe and welcoming environment with a safe and secure entrance.
In addition to safe and secure entryways, all schools are equipped with lockdown hardware, which allows all perimeter and classroom doors to be locked with the touch of a button. Every district building has an intrusion detection security system, and schools also have recently upgraded intercom systems which provide pre-recorded safety messaging that alert school staff and district-level administrators in real time. Video surveillance is also in place in key areas across school campuses.
West Linn-Wilsonville schools also have two School Resource Officers (SROs) — one for each side of the district. SROs are stationed at West Linn High School and Wilsonville High School, but they also check in with all WLWV schools on a regular basis, attending special events as requested by administrators.
