Flight Team
-
When a serious crisis such as a student or staff death occurs, the Flight Team will wrap around to provide support for students and staff as they move through the initial phases of grief and understanding of the tragic event. In the initial phases of grief and understanding following a tragic event, our Flight Team is activated to stand by and support students and staff.
The term "Flight Team" is not just a name—it embodies individuals supported by our district to respond swiftly wherever they are needed. These team members participate in comprehensive training based on a nationally renowned model from Cheri Lovre's Crisis Management Institute. Our very own Mental Health Specialists have become trainers in this important model. Our Mental Health Specialists, Counselors, School Psychologists, District Nurses, and Student Services Instructional Coordinators all collaborate in response. The response includes:
- Building Administrators reach out to the Student Services Director when there is a serious crisis that may require a Flight Team response.
- The team supports the emotional and communication needs of the school building through the time of the initial crisis.
- Crisis management procedural support for building administration.
- Support for building staff and students.
Our flight team comes together proactively, outside of crises, to strengthen their connections and be grounded in their shared mission. When the need arises, this dynamic team provides support to you, your students, and our community.
