    1929 Band

    The West Linn High School band has made a very fine showing this year, under
    the able leadership of Mr. Edwin Wetmore, Director. This is the second year
    West Linn has boasted a band. 


    Early in the year after only a few months' practice they gave a band concert,
    January 11. Another concert was given May 10 and on May 11 the members
    of the band entered the State Contest held in the Portland Auditorium.

     1929 Banking

    "West Linn High has maintained an verage of 93% for each bank day this year, which is the fourth
    year theThrift organization has been an active society in the school. West Linn established an
    excellent record in thrift the first year it was introduced into the schooland the splendid Cooperation
    of that first year has continued throughout the succeeding years."

    "Thrift means spending less than you earn: saving systematically. It does not mean that you should
    stop spending."
    "To get ahead you must have a simple and definite plan. Hit-or-miss methods won't
    do; in the accumulation of money they are positevely fatal."

    1929 Boys"U" Club

    The "U" Club has been an outstanding organization in the school this year. The
    members have made it possible to carry on interscholastic athletcis and have
    represented the school in a manner of which the whole student body is proud.
    Also the members have helped to manage the crowds at the games.

    1929 Girls "U" Club

    The Girls' "U" Club was organized in 1923 and has maintained the high standards for which the
    club stands. These are loyalty, pep, and good sportmanship, even though the teams do not always win.

    Those eligible to membership are the girls who have earned letters by representing U.H.S.
    in interscholastic contests.

    1929 Debate Team

    This year West Linn participated in three debates in the County League. These debates
    were of the non-decision type, and no championship was offered. The schools debated
    by West Linn were: Estacada, Milwaukie and Oregon City. 


    Jim Leekley was Debate Manager. The teams were coached by Mr. Main and Mr. Gould.

     1929 Hi -Y Club

    The Hi-Y Club does a great deal of good for the school and the community.
    It not only does a great deal for its own members but it endeavors tohelp the
    various other clubs in the school in their activities.

     1929 Glee Club

    The largest Boys' and Girls' Glee Club West Linn has ever had was organized this year under the able direction of Miss Kathryn Inwood with Miss Margaret Thompson acting as accompanist.

    The combined Glee Clubs presented a very successful operetta, "The Bells of Beaujolais", and also contributed numbers at both band concerts.

    1929 Orchestra

    The Orchestra has proven to be very successful this year under the able direction of Miss Kathryn Inwood. 

    The Orchestra played for a number of entertainments this year including various plays, Operetta, May Day Exercises and Commencement
