1938 Boy's Baseball
The Lions got off to a fine start by beating Dallas in the first league game, but went into a slump after that and lost several games in a row. However, as the season progressed and the batting improved, they held their own very well. The team was never beaten by very large scores, and many times the game went on as far as fourteen innings, only to be lost by a streak of hard luck. Coach Brown had one of the best infields in the league and the only thing that held the team back was the inability to bunch up the hits when they were needed most. The team had a strong fighting spirit and was a ball club that West Linn can be rightly proud of.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------1938 Boy's Basketball
Because of the lack of lettermen and veterans on the squad, this year's basketball team didn't fare so well, winning only one game during the season. Only one player was a senior, the rest being juniors and sophomores. The team showed a real fighting West Linn spirit during every game, and never once did they stop driving until the final whistle was blown. With nearly every man on the squad back next year,
West Linn's basketball team should be something to be proud of.Art Cox, Senior - Lester Bradley - Junior, "Spud" Ellis - Junior, "Karb" Karbonski - Junior, Bob Watson - Junior,
Willie Wilson - Junior, Kent Bauersfeld - Sophomore, John Whitney - Sophomore
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------1938 Boy's FootballConsidering the fact that Coach Brown had only five lettermen around with which to build a team, the Lion football squad turned in a good account of themselves for the season. In Willamette Valley League play, West Linn was beaten by only Independence and Silverton, and they beat Dallas, Newburg, Canby, Woodburn, and Molalla, and ended in a tie with Silverton for second place in the league standings.
